SPANISH WAR 1936-1939

In 1936, Spain had a republic but all sorts of conflicts were spreading all over the country all over the country. Republicans wants to keep the politic system , which has existed since 1931 (IInd republic) but nationalists (future franquists) wanted to change it . francisco Franco (general Franco) is the man who controled the nationalist's army. Since 1936, nationalisms is grew...the civil war (spanish war) was coming!

1936

•  electoral victory of the "frente popular"


• July 17th & july 18th
  -Putsch by important generals of the nationalist movement (commanded by
  Franco, Mola and Quepo de Llano);  they took control of the African army in
  Spanish Marocco, Seville, Cadix, Cordoba, Algesiras, Pamplona, Valladolid
  and Burgos.
  
  -Prime minister Querigo resigned
  
  
• July, 19th
  -putschists were joined by Salamanca, Segovia, Caceres, oviedo, Zaragoza and galician army
  
  -José Giral's governement was refromed
  
  
• July, 20th
  -the nationalist movement failed in madrid and Barcelona.
  
  -The general José Sanjurjo (who organised the putsh) died in a plane crash.
  
  
• July, 23trd
  -The "Junta española" chose Burgos in order to found there quarters
  
  
• july, 24th
  France tried to help the Republicans
  
  
• july 30th:
  -German and italian planes helped the Nationalists in Gibraltar and Marocco
  
  
• August, 1st:
  -Leon Blum decided not to help Spain
  
  
• August, 8th:
  -France closed its borders with Spain
  
  
• September 4th:
  - Nationalists attacked Irun and won!


• September 5th:
  -Largo Caballero became prime minister.
  
  
• September 9th:
  - London conference about the intervention of Great Britain in Spain: they preferred not to help.
  
  
• September 27th
  -Nationalist army entered Toledo and make failed the republican army in the Alcazar where colonel José Moscardo have been since July, 22th

  -Komitern*  agreed to create the international army for Spain
  
  October, 1st
  - Francisco Franco became the  head of governement
  - Pais Vasco wanted its autonomy
  
  
• October, 22th:
  -Republican governement is agree about the creation of international army

  -Premice of the Nationalist offensive in Madrid
  
  
• November 18th:
  -end of the Madrid's conflict, Franco failed
  
  
• December, 17th:
  -Stalines troups (travda) announced that in Cataluña "Strotkystes and anarcho syndicalists will be banned"

• Febrary, 6th  to Febrary 28th:
  New ofensive of nationalists (Nationalits became Franquists) to madrid: It failed (the battle of Jarama)

  -Malaga was taken by the italian expedition
  
  
• March, 8th to march,18th:
  -Guadalajara's battle
  
  
• March,18th:
  -Nationalists have been uncircled in guadalajara
  
  
• March 19th:
  -Mola started an offensive in the North of the country
  
  
• April, 19th:
  -The falangis (another movement) became the only political system in the Nationalist area
  
  
• April, 26th:
  -Guernica is destroyed by the planes of the condor legion of Germany, 1500 civilians have been killed!
  
  
• June; 3rd:
  -Mola died in a plane crash
  
  
• June,19th:
  -Bilbao became nationalist
  
  
• October:
  -Franquists conquered the atlantic terriories and Gijon, end of the war in the northern Spain.
  
  
• October, 28th:
  -the republican governement is transferred to Barcelona
  
  
• December, 5th:
  -republican offensive in Teruel
  
  
• December, 19th:
  -Teruel was in the republican area

  -France reopened its borders in order to allow weapons to enter the Republican Area

  -The Italians bombarded Barcelona, ruplican town.

  -Franquists cut the republican area into two parts after the conquered the mediteranea area.
  
  
• June:
  -France closed its borders
  
  
• July, 24th:
  last big offensive on the Ebre!
  
  
• October:
  -International Army is banned from Spain
  
  
• October, 30th: 
  -Franquist Counter-offensive  on the Ebre area
  
  
• December, 23trd:
  -Franquist campain started in Barcelona

1939

• January, 15th:
  -France accepted the weapon's transit to republican area
  
  
• January, 26th:
  -Barcelona fell, the city became Franquist and 450.000 Spaniards migrated to France (huge migration)
  
  
• February,  5th:
  -Franquist occupation of all cataluña (barcelona's communauty)
  
  
• February, 27th:
  -France and Great Britain recognized Franco as Spain's head of state!
  
  
• February, 28th:
  -resignation of Azaña
  
  
• March, 26th:
  -MADRID BECAME FRANQUIST!!!!!
  
  
• March, 31st:
  -All of Spain was occupied by the franquist/nationalit army
  
  
• April, 1st:
  -End of the civil war in Spain...the country was in ruins!
